More about the ab machines as seen on TV
Ab machines as seen on TV are very popular, but which really delivers on their promise? Is this a realistic way to get fit or just a red herring? Some of the ab machines seen on tv include the ab rocker, the ab lounge, ab roller, ab rocket and a bunch of other copycat products, some that look like they belong on another planet. Let's take a look at some of these products.
Ab Energizer
Who can forget this little gem? Stick it on your waist, turn it on and stand or sit there looking like an idiot while your abs magically gets toned.
Of course this product was bogus, as so many consumers found out after they bought it. This product's life ended in a law suit against the marketers and certain retailers of this product by the FTC.
All I can say is "people, use your brains". Do you really think you can strap a belt on your waist and get great abs just through electronic muscle stimulation? Whenever you hear the phrase "abs without exercise", run as far in the opposite direction as you can go.
Will there be more of this type of ab machines seen on TV? Of course. Will thousands of people fall for it again? Of course.
Ab Rocker
Wow, yeah. Let's pay $50+ to do some situps.
Isn't that what the Ab Rocker really is? A glorified situp machine? You can do a much bigger and more challenging variety of ab exercises on a simple exercise ball than you can do with this ab machine.
Will it work? It might help a little if combined with a proper diet and other exercise like interval training, muscle training and intense aerobic training. Just on its own, it's not going to do anything.
And that, unfortunately, is the case with pretty much all these machines.
I could go on about more of these products, but there would be little point. They're all just variations of the same thing.
I can guarantee you right now there is not a ripped body anywhere on the planet that was forged in 10 minutes a day on some seen on TV ab machine.
Those sellout personal trainers and models advertising these things don't look like they do because they sat around with a belt around their stomachs or did situps in an ab rocker.
You're not going to get away without hard work, discipline and a change in your lifestyle.
The philosophy behind ab machines as seen on TV
The thinking behind these machines is simple. They exploit our inherent laziness. They sell the dream of getting big results from doing pretty much, well, nothing.
And that works in every industry, not just weight loss and fitness. Look at how many people fall for money making schemes where big returns are promised for little work.
If you really need ab exercise equipment, get an exercise ball or something that really trains your core like the Power Wheel from LifeLineUSA.com, which I talk about elsewhere on this site.
And of course don't forget about the changes you'll need to make to your diet and the discipline to train hard and regularly. You know, all the things these snake oil sellers on TV never tell you about.
